The Formaldehyde Test Kit can be used for the rapid detection and semi-quantitative determination of formaldehyde in aqueous solutions. Each Formaldehyde Test Kit contains 100 test strips, graduated test vessel and reagent.
Formalin, which is a saturated solution of formaldehyde in water (approx. 40 % by volume or 37 % by mass), is often used as a disinfectant, preservative or as a treatment for external parasites and fungi in aquaculture under the trade name Parasite-S. In aquaculture, to prevent ineffective Parasite-S treatment applications, the Formaldehyde Test Kit can be used to determine whether fish and/or eggs are receiving the targeted Parasite-S dilution and for the correct duration.
For some facilities, monitoring Parasite-S levels in the effluent may also be required.
The kit comes with a colorimetric comparator of 0 - 10 - 20 - 40 - 70 - 100 mg/l (ppm) formaldehyde.
Additional Determination Considerations
In some instances, the formaldehyde concentration will exceed the highest value on the color scale (100 ppm), so the sample solution must then be diluted to bring it within range.
